Philip is an extraordinary wine created to both honor the great ancestor Philip Mazzei - a passionate grape grower, forward thinker and citizen of the world and highlight the Mazzei family's special connection to the United States. Philip is blend of the finest Cabernet Sauvignon grapes selected from all the Mazzei's Tuscan estates.

VINIFICATION

Hand harvested grapes from the Mazzei Tuscan estates - Belguardo, in Maremma, and Castello di Fonterutoli, in Chianti Classico. The lots are fermented and aged separately for 24 months in small French and American oak barrels (30% new).

COLOR

Deep, dark purple.

NOSE

Intriguing black cherry, balsamic herbs, coffee and lightly toasted oak.

PALATE

Harmonious flavors of dark fruit, dried flowers, chocolate and vanilla. Exotic, complex character, full bodied with polished tannins.

NOTES:

A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon from each of the Mazzei’s estates, Philip is the quintessence of Tuscany. It embodies the “New World” spirit of Tuscan winemaking, the “revolutionary” character of Philip Mazzei, and expresses the family’s desire to pursue happiness. It is intense and rich, distinctly Mazzei and Cabernet Sauvignon. stylish wine opens with aromas of red berry, Mediterranean herb and cedar. The juicy, elegantly structured palate doles out red currant, black raspberry, licorice and white pepper alongside silky tannins.
